Antique Adlake Railroad Switch Lock, MONON Indiana
Sold on 7/15/2023 for $18.00
In the railroad days of yester-year, security was of utmost importance. If a random passerby were to move a switch on the tracks, the railroad could incur costly damages and even death. The primary means of security for railroads was locks. Many of these railroad switch locks can still be found today. The picture above shows an antique Adlake Railroad Switch Lock marked MONON.
This lock would have been used in MONON Indiana when the station was still in use. The lock is missing the key but it is in great condition for its age. To be honest, I don’t remember where I got the lock, but it has hung on my office for years. I guess it is time to flip it and get some new décor.
